It is a great honour for the Handball Federation of Portugal to host the 2016  Mens and Women 16 Beach Handball European Championships.

First of all because of the trust the European Handball Federation had on us in order to organise the first edition of the Beach Handball Championships for these younger ages.

Secondly, because it reinforces Portugal’s reputation as an excellent host of great international events.

Thirdly, because this organization will be a relevant mark in the implementation of Beach Handball in a Country that has the perfect conditions for its practice.

Such organization is only possible due to the support given by the Portuguese Government through the governing body IPDJ (Portuguese Institute for Youth and Sports) and mainly due to the partnership established with the Municipality of Nazaré, a reputable entity in beach sports and  their local development.

Nazaré is a privileged venue that all participants will have the pleasure to know.
For their hospitality, for the beauty of the landscape, with its breathtaking sea waves and sandy beaches, its gastronomic delights and their remarkable people.

We hope this European Championships will be played with great enthusiasm, fun and fair play.

The qualification for the 2017 Men and Women 17 Beach Handball Championships will raise the competition level and the fight for victory, but the characteristic friendly spirit of Beach Handball competitions will certainly be the great winner.
